A Tax Smart Way to Support
Orchestra Miami!

Did you know that if you are age 70½ or older, you may be able to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to Orchestra Miami?
It's an easy and important means of supporting unforgettable performances, arts education, and community engagement across Miami-Dade County while potentially
reducing your taxable income.
A QCD allows eligible donors to transfer funds directly from an IRA to a qualified nonprofit organization such as Orchestra Miami without paying federal income tax on the distribution. Many donors also use IRA gifts to satisfy all or part of their Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
Your support helps Orchestra Miami bring powerful performances, inspiring educational initiatives, and transformative artistic experiences to audiences, families, and students throughout our community.

Potential tax advantages.

Support the future of your orchestra.
Your generosity helps ensure that Orchestra Miami will continue to grow and bring the inspirational, high-quality and meaningful programs that you have come to expect from us. A gift today ensures that tomorrow's audience will enjoy the benefits of your generosity.
How It Works
To qualify for a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD):
You must be age 70½ or older.
Gifts must be made directly from your IRA administrator to Fort Worth Opera.
Eligible donors may give up to the annual IRS-qualified maximum amount.
Gifts must generally be completed by December 31 to count toward the current tax year.

Please consult your financial advisor, tax professional, or IRA administrator to determine whether a Qualified Charitable Distribution is right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QDC)?
A Qualified Charitable Distribution allows eligible individuals age 70½ or older to transfer funds directly from an IRA to a qualified nonprofit organization without recognizing the distribution as taxable income.
Can my IRA gift count toward my Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)?
Yes. For many donors, a qualified charitable distribution can satisfy all or part of an annual required minimum distribution.
Do I need to transfer my entire IRA?
No. You may choose to make a gift in any amount up to the annual IRS-qualified maximum.
Is there a limit to how much I can give through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
Yes. In 2026, eligible individuals may transfer up to $111,000 directly from an IRA to qualified charitable organizations such as Fort Worth Opera through a QCD. Couples with separate IRAs may each make qualified charitable distributions up to the annual IRS limit. Please consult your financial or tax advisor regarding your specific situation and current IRS guidelines.
Do I receive a charitable deduction?
Because Qualified Charitable Distributions are generally excluded from taxable income, they do not also qualify for a charitable income tax deduction.
