MIAMI HIGH AT 90!
Established in 1903, Miami Senior High is the oldest high school in Miami Dade County. The high school originally served the earliest settling families of Miami in the first half of the 20th century. By the early 1920's the student populace had outgrown its old space, and a new building was designed by the firm of Richard Keihnel and John Elliott (the same firm which designed the Coral Gables Congregational Church, the Coconut Grove Playhouse, Coral Gables Elementary, the Scottish Rite Temple
and the Carlyle Hotel on Ocean Drive).
Join us as we celebrate the 90th anniversary of the “new” building, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, in its beautiful Spanish Mediterranean-style auditorium. Orchestra Miami, conducted by Elaine Rinaldi, performs music from 1928 and beyond.
